I’m Deepanshi, a BITS Pilani graduate, published poet, and the founder and creative mind behind Lipsticks & Martinis.
L&M began with an instinct I could not ignore: that women deserve a space where taste is not treated as frivolous, ambition is not stripped of softness, and becoming is allowed to be both beautiful and serious.
What I am building isn't just a magazine. It is an editorial and digital world for the inner life, the outer life, and everything a woman is quietly becoming: stories to return to, rituals to live by, tools that make life feel more intentional, and ideas that stay with her.
L&M was built from the feeling that so much of women’s media asks her to become more, yet rarely makes space for who she already is.
She is offered optimisation without tenderness, aesthetics without substance, and advice without context. I wanted to make something that could hold beauty and thought, softness and self-respect, fantasy and function, without asking any one of them to cancel the others.
That became L&M: a living editorial world made to accompany her. Not to prescribe a perfect life, but to help her notice, choose, and build one that feels recognisably hers.
Much of it remains free because access matters. Before anything is sold, she should be met with something generous, beautiful, and worth returning to.
She is thoughtful, ambitious, and alive to beauty. She deeply cares about the future she is building for herself, while also concerned about the lipstick or lip-gloss shade that helps her embrace the diva within. She romanticises rom-coms, loves to shop, annotates books, notices details, and wants a life that feels chosen rather than influenced.
She is learning to make herself the love of her own life, to be unapologetically herself. Shopping is retail therapy, skincare and makeup are rituals rather than trivial indulgences, and embracing her life like the main character is not delusion but recognition. She is in the moment, and she wants to feel it.
She is not looking to be fixed. She is looking for language, perspective, taste, and tools that help her hear herself more clearly and live more fully as the woman she already knows she can be.
Fathoming My 3AM Thoughts was the first place I learned what happens when a private feeling is shaped carefully enough to become someone else’s mirror. It was intimate, restless, romantic, and unafraid of emotional detail.
Publishing it taught me that language can do more than describe a feeling. It can make a person feel accompanied by it. L&M grew from that same instinct, only on a larger canvas.
The poetry book was the first proof that the things we are tempted to dismiss as “too much” can become something meaningful when they are given form.
